RECTOR of the Jagiellonian University announces the competition for the post of POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at the Faculty of Geography and Geology within the scope of geographic information science and technology (remote sensing and spatial modelling) within National Science Center project (OPUS 15 scheme): Trajectories, causes and consequences of land cover and land use changes in Central Europe (TRACE).
The post-doc position is available for 33 months, starting approximately in April 2019.
We seek a talented and enthusiastic individual to join its young and dynamically growing research team as a postdoctoral researcher. The main task of the post-doc will be to develop approaches which allow to assess and model land use change with the use of long term time-series of remote sensing data.
The main aims of the TRACE project are: (1) to apply recent advances in remote sensing for wall-to-wall mapping of land cover and land use change trajectories using optical and radar imagery and advantage of data-dense time series across Central Europe (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia) over last fifty years; (2) to better understand the causes of land cover and land use change across Central Europe; and finally (3) to assess the effects of land cover and land use change on biodiversity and carbon pools and fluxes across Central Europe.
