Appalachians/Carpathians: Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions: Patterns, Problems, and Prospects, Yaremche and Rakhiv, Ukraine, September 19-22, 2017

We invite your participation in the International Conference being sponsored by the Ivano-Frankivsk College of the Precarpathian National University, Berea College, the Yaremche Center for Social and Business Initiatives, the International Programs of the U.S. Forest Service, Fulbright Ukraine, the Carpathian National Nature Park, and distinguished Appalachian Studies scholars from the USA. The program committee–which includes members of the Precarpathian National University in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine–is now accepting a select number of proposals for plenary and concurrent sessions, on topics ranging from sustainable community development, cultural preservation and folklore, regional history, sustainable agriculture and forestry, ecological tourism, rural placemaking, and other issues related to mountain life and culture in the Appalachians and Carpathians.

All proposals must be e-mailed prior to April 15 to: AppalachiansCarpathians2017@gmail.com

Submit your proposal abstract (approx. 250 words) within the text of your email AND as a single-spaced Word attachment. Incomplete, mailed, or faxed submissions cannot be accepted. Applicants will be notified before May 1, 2017, of the committee’s final decision.
